New Members
Twenty-one new members were received in 2008 and another new member group will be received January 25, 2009. We have had a great
mix of ages, and our new members really seem to be involved in worship and ministry at Immanuel. What a blessing to our congregation!
Again we have heard how welcoming people are at Immanuel. I would ask that we EACH continue to look for visitors and welcome
them - You never know the impact a genuine, warm welcome will have on a visitor. Thank you also to those who spend time
delivering information and greeting those who visit our worship services. We are all here as God's servants in the community.
Pat Gustafson has offered to help with the New Member Committee. Anyone else interest in working with new members is WELCOME!

Pie Bakers
Bright and early Thursday mornings find 18 to 23 people busy in Immanuel's kitchen making pies...rhubarb in the spring, apple in late
summer and pumpkin in the fall. In 2008 they made 2,314 pies which sold for $7 apiece, 27 pans of bars and 21 4" pies.
Pastor Mike auctioned off our 2000th pie during a coffee hour for $300!!
The pie bakers always welcome donations as thier many
expenses include flour, sugar, pumpkin, eggs, half & half, apples, pie pans and lard. And the prices of all those items
keep increasing despite our efforts to "shop around to get the best buy." More volunteers are also needed to help make pies
and to deliver pies.

Visitor Contact Ministry
The committee follows up with worship visitors who sign the registration insert in the bulletin. Information packets about
Immanuel are provided to visitors from the community who have expressed an interest in knowing more about Immanuel. Often personal
visits are made to further discuss Immanuel's programs.

During special times of need, the role of the BeFriender is to be a companion on the journey. BeFriender ministers bring the caring
presence of God and the community through a listening, compassionate presence, offering emotional and spiritual support.
BeFriendersaccept people as they are without telling them how they ought to be. They listen without giving advice and allow people to make their
own decisions.
BeFrienders visit people of various ages with diverse needs, backgrounds, and situations. Examples of individuals visited
would include homebound elderly, nursing home residents, individuals experiencing grief and loss, or those dealing with any number
of life’s difficult circumstances.
BeFriender ministers receive training that develops communication skills, faith sharing, and ministry reflection. After training,BeFrienders meet twice monthly, with supervision, to reflect on their ministry and to pray.
The frequency of visits will be determined
by the people visited and the BeFriender. Together, the BeFriender and BeFriended will determine the duration of the relationship.
BeFriendersmaintain a strict policy of confidentiality. The privacy of those BeFriended is maintained during ministry reflection through the
use of fictitious names and the elimination of unnecessary identifying details.
