This year (2009) the Mission and Outreach Board was active in several aspects of the Immanuel Church life.  In March we again hosted a booth at the Princeton Business Expo.  We experienced a large volume of "interested" people, a large part due to the raffle which offered a chance to win one of the several pies baked by our own "pie-bakers."  The booth gave us the opportunity to introduce Immanuel Lutheran to those in the community who are searching for a church home!

 

One of the facts we learned from the operation the booth is that our brochure needed some timely updating.  We worked with the church pictorial directory committee in order to develop and produce a new brochure.  This will be printed and available very soon.

 

Our annual Stewardship appeal for the past two years was driven by program called Consecration Sunday.  We felt that the program was good; however, we did not think another time would be beneficial.  The committee put on a program by procedure of a sermon, announcements, and testimonies to challenge us to increase giving.  The question - "What percentage of my income is God calling me to give?" continues to be the act of discipleship which encourages us toward proportionate and systematic giving.

 

As our resources need to be managed more intensely, we decided to use offering envelopes which would be packaged for the entire year and handed out once; rather than do a monthly mailing.  This should generate some savings.

 

The committee will continue to search for ways to do evangelism.  We are looking at some programs already being used, in order to strengthen and teach us to be better witnesses.
