There are presently fourteen women serving as Altar Guild members.  They work in teams of two, serving two months each year.  Their duties include:  Keeping altar candles filled with oil, making sure the Ever-Present light is burning, setting up for all communion services, and assisting at communion services.  The Altar Guild would welcome new members to this very important worship ministry.  If interested please call either Jo Seifert 389-1955 or Shirley Miller 389-3099

This committee has continued to expand their resources.  New additions this past year include the Word of God banner made by Nealna Gylling and Sue Van Hooser, two large vases for the altar area, outdoor decorations for seasonal effect and an entry way banner proclaiming Let Your Light Shine made by Mary Ann Mullins.

 

Our goal is to tie things together in our worship space to create an atmosphere for all worshipers to enter more fully into the worship of God. 

The most visible work of this eleven member committee are the displays in the Archives Cabinet locted in the Gathering Area.  The September through May displays focus on the Church Year and/or Immanuel's program ministries.  In June, July and August the displays feature hobbies and interests of Immanuel's members as a means of promoting fellowship among our members as we continue to grow.  There were two special displays in 2008, one honoring Pastor Jim Nelson for his interim ministry at Immanuel and the other welcoming Pastor Michael Soppeland and his family to Immanuel.

 

Behind the scenes the Committee maintains Immanuel's history, including the Memory Book, which features a page for each member who has died, and the Baptismal Book, which features each new member baptized in our congregation.  They also retain a photo history of Immanuel and care for items from Immanuel's past.  If you have Immanuel memorabilea you no longer wish to keep, please contact this committee.

 

The Committee would love more membersl  Have an artistic touch:  Join one of the cabinet display groups.  Have an appreciation for the hsitory of Immanuel:  Join the history-keeping group.

Immanuel's membership is divided into 12 monthly Service Team groups.  During a team's month they provide greeters, ushers, readers, and communion servers for each worship service held during that month.  They also provide and serve Coffee Hour for those services.  There are over 1,200 opportunities for the members of Immanuel to serve each year.  We thank the more than 250 persons who filled these services in 2008 and invite those who have not participated in the past to join this ministry in 2008.  There is a place and need for each of you.
