Psalm 100

Know that the LORD is God. It is he that made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. - Psalm 100:3

We can see stars, planets and whole galaxies with a telescope. It can leave us with a sense of awe and wonder and indeed, overwhelm us a bit. We behold “the heavens” and we are humbled by how vast the universe is and how small and insignificant we seem by comparison. And then there is a whole other world that we can view through the lens of a microscope. It, too, can give us a sense of awe and wonder of the intricacies of things and the complexity of life itself. And it can leave us to wonder how and why God should make all that there is, including you and me.

The macrocosm and microcosm of the universe, the world, and humanity is all from the hands of the single Creator of all that exists. The psalmist declares that we are to know the Lord is God and that he has made us and we are his people. Therefore, we ought to make a joyful noise to the Lord, worshipping the Lord with gladness and to come into his presence with singing.

Let us pray: We worship and praise you, O God, as creator of all things, including we, your people. May we bless and glorify your name in all we say and do, that it reflect your goodness. Amen.
